ESTABLISHMENT OF MALAYSIAN CALIFORNIA
BUSINESS COUNCIL
Mr. Norman Muhamad, Consul-General of Malaysia in Los Angeles, chaired a meeting on 2 April 2009 to establish the Malaysia-California Business Council (MCALBC).
2. Among the objectives of the MCALBC are:
To promote and strengthen bilateral relations between Malaysia
and the US in all areas, especially in trade and economy; and

To facilitate business networking and communication and opportunities for individuals, companies and entrepreneurs; and
3. In his remarks, the Consul-General expressed his appreciation to Puan Sharimahton Mat Saleh, Trade Counselor, and her office for all hard work they have put in to realize the Council. Much of the work has already begun in December 2008. The Consul-General also thanked the Malaysian business community for their cooperation and interest. Their reception has been encouraging, with many expressing enthusiasm to actively participate and contribute to the success of the Council.
4. As a new organization, the Meeting agreed that the Council should consolidate and focus much of its work to the California areas first. Once the Council has been firmly established, the focus will be widened to other areas within the USA.
5. The Consulate-General, with the assistance from Malaysian business community in California, are embarking on a membership drive, calling on all Malaysian businessmen doing business in America, especially California, and Americans interested in doing business in Malaysia to participate in the Council. The Consul-General calls on all interested parties to participate in the Council and ensure its success.
